The Free Fishing Clinic is put together by the Elkhart Environmental Center, Elkhart Parks & Recreation, and Public Works Aquatic Biology Departments. Ideal for ages 7+, this clinic features a series of stations to teach kids the important aspects of fishing, such as: stewardship, conservation, safety & casting, knot tying, and basic tackle. Kids who complete the clinic will receive a free rod and reel (while supplies last) and can stick around the pond to get some experience, or check out live fish from the Elkhart River by our Aquatic Biology Department. The Episcopal Diocese of Northern Indiana Summer Youth Camp is offered for students entering 3rd-9th grades in the 2025/2026 school year. It is held at Camp Alexander Mack in Milford, IN on the shores of Lake Waubee. Each year the planning team designs a special curriculum centered around a theme intertwining biblical teachings and modern day experiences.

At Fight Like A Girl camp, girls ages 9–13 will gain practical self-defense skills, boost their confidence, and build character through the core values of Grit, Integrity, Respect, and Leverage. This week-long experience combines physical training with verbal boundary-setting strategies in a safe, supportive environment led by certified Gracie Jiu-Jitsu instructors, Lauren Johns and Luke Johns. 

Our Nature Play Days are back again this summer! Join us every other Monday in June (June 2nd, 16th, and 30th) for activities for kids of all ages at these FREE drop-in programs. Participate in trail exploration, scavenger hunts, nature crafts, and more while enjoying time outdoors. Activities are self-guided with staff available to assist. Join guest speaker Allen Chartier of the Great Lakes HummerNet at the EEC on Saturday, June 28th for a morning all about hummingbirds!
