    Get a head start on spring garden planning at our returning backyard habitat workshop at the Elkhart Environmental Center!   Join us for Birds, Bees, & Beyond: Building a Backyard Habitat at the EEC on Wednesday, January 28th to shake the winter blues and get excited about getting your garden ready for spring! Whether you live in a house with a big backyard or in a small apartment, there are simple steps you can take to help support local wildlife at home – and, in the process, the environment on a larger scale. Get ideas on how to transform your outdoor space into an area that provides vital resources for insects, birds, and many other critters that bring our backyards to life. In addition to getting home habitat tips, you will also receive a packet of native plant seeds to help develop your wildlife-friendly space.   Registration for this program is $2 per person. All the money raised will go towards this project of helping us make a nice and safe space for our local Elkhart community. Ticket Prices are adults $14 @ the door, children 6-12 $10 @ the door, and children 5 and under eat free. We will have fish and tenderloins, sides, and desserts. You can dine in or carry out. Come and fellowship with us and help us raise money for this amazing community outreach project.

    The St. Joseph County Department of Health invites community members to attend our online education sessions for new and expecting parents. Join us for EMBER: Empowering Moms and Babies through Education and Resilience. We offer FREE maternal health classes and post-partum support groups, a welcoming space to openly discuss life after childbirth. Attendees and support people earn BABE coupons. There are weekly raffles for small items and monthly raffles for larger items. Women at all stages of pregnancy are welcome.
