• Hummingbird Banding with Allen Chartier

    Join guest speaker Allen Chartier of the Great Lakes HummerNet at the EEC on Saturday, June 28th for a morning all about hummingbirds! During this program, Allen will discuss the HummerNet research project and how you can participate, provide hints on how to attract and feed hummingbirds at home, give tips on hummingbird-friendly gardening, and more. After his presentation, he will also provide a banding demonstration with hummingbirds he is able to catch at the EEC! Registration for this program is $5 per person.   • ADEC’s Annual Ride A Bike Event

    Come Ride-A-Bike and make lasting memories alongside your neighbors with disabilities during ADEC’s largest fundraising event, presented by Thor Industries, Welch Packaging, and Froggy 102.7!   This year’s event will feature bike rides ranging from 1 to 50 miles in length, walking paths, games, prizes, food trucks, and live music from Froggy 102.7—plus plenty of fun activities for all ages! Whether you choose to ride, walk, run, or cheer from the sidelines, your participation directly supports the individuals we serve at ADEC.   For nearly five decades, the community has partnered with ADEC to support individuals with disabilities during the cherished tradition of Ride-A-Bike by participating, fundraising, and volunteering.   • Oakridge Open Pickleball Tournament

    Oakridge Community Church, located in St. Joseph, Michigan, will be hosting a pickleball tournament. This is an opportunity to bring people together from SW Michigan and Northern Indiana who either play the sport or want to begin playing. There will be three divisions of play - beginner, intermediate, and advanced. Food and drink will be free to those who attend and prized will be awarded to the winners. Entry fees go directly to the Oakridge Community Church food pantry, which monthly reaches out to people, providing food and other items to families in need. Spectators are welcome as well. There is no charge to come and watch.

  • Natural Dye Workshop

    Join us for another Natural Dye Workshop with guest presenter Julie Tourtillotte on Friday, September 19th! From 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the EEC, learn how to dye fabrics with beautiful dyes made from local plants such as goldenrod and walnut. All participants will be provided with a ready-to-dye bandana to use to experiment with natural dye methods, but guests are welcome to bring their own items to dye, as well (see note below). Registration for this workshop is $10 per person. Advance registration is limited and required by Tuesday, September 16th.
